SHOPIAN: On the eve of ‘International Day of Persons with Disabilities,’ the Department of Social Welfare and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Shopian today organized indoor sports activities at Town Hall, here to celebrate the day. The event featured indoor sports activities like carom and chess, which witnessed enthusiastic participation by specially-abled persons.

Secretary, DLSA, addressing the gathering threw light on the rights and well-being of specially- abled persons. He said the day highlights the importance of inclusion, accessibility, and equality for persons with disabilities. Other speakers discussed initiatives to empower specially- abled persons and ensure their inclusivity in society. This year's theme, ‘Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future,’ reinforces the need for leadership and participation of persons with disabilities.
