KUPWARA,: My Youth My Pride Wushu and Kabaddi Championship began today at the Indoor Stadium Handwara, Kupwara. A total of 120 boys and girls from different areas are participating in the championship, which is organised under the guidance of the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council. The event was inaugurated in the presence of Showket, Incharge Baramulla, as Chief Guest, and Ajaz Hassan, Incharge Indoor Stadium Handwara, as Guest of Honour. Farooq Ahmed, Incharge Kulangam, Kupwara, and Nahida Nabi, Khelo India Kabaddi Coach, were also present and interacted with the participating athletes.
The championship aims to promote sports culture, discipline, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle among the youth of the region. The participation of 120 players from Wushu and Kabaddi disciplines reflects the growing interest in these sports across the area. The event continues to provide young athletes, particularly those from remote and border areas, with opportunities and a platform to showcase their talent at various levels. The championship will conclude on 29 July 2026 with Wushu and Kabaddi competitions on both days.
