REASI: Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) of the Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC), Mahore and DLSA Reasi today conducted a series of legal awareness programmes across the district, covering the Right to Education, online welfare schemes, drug abuse, child protection and mediation.
At Larh and Bathoie Mahore, PLVs of TLSC Mahore held a programme on the Right to Education, informing participants that every child is entitled to free and compulsory education under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009. They stressed school enrolment, regular attendance and prevention of dropouts and explained the role of legal services institutions in safeguarding children's educational rights and the availability of free legal aid through DLSA and TLSC.
At village Bhabber, PLVs of DLSA Reasi held a programme on online schemes, explaining the eligibility criteria, application procedures and importance of using authentic government portals for Central and UT Government schemes. Participants were cautioned against online frauds and cyber scams, informed of the free legal aid available and urged to spread awareness so that deserving beneficiaries can avail the benefits without difficulty.
At village Goswan Gran, PLVs of DLSA Reasi held a programme on "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and Free Legal Aid", sensitising participants to the harmful effects of drug abuse and urging the youth to shun intoxicants and support a drug-free society. Participants were briefed on free legal aid under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, their eligibility and the procedure to avail assistance through DLSA/TLSC, along with information on legal awareness camps, legal aid clinics and NALSA welfare schemes.
At the Legal Aid Clinic (LAC), Dewal B Mahore and village Tukson, PLVs of TLSC Mahore held programmes on "Surakshit Bachpan, Surakshit Bhavishya", sensitising participants to a safe and secure childhood, protection of child rights, access to education and the legal safeguards against child abuse, child labour, child marriage and trafficking under various child protection laws and NALSA schemes. They underlined community participation in protecting children from exploitation and neglect and the role of legal services institutions in providing free legal aid to children and other vulnerable sections.
At Panchayat Chillad, PLVs of TLSC Mahore held a programme on "Mediation: Towards Litigation-Free Rural India", explaining mediation as an effective, economical and amicable means of resolving disputes that preserves relationships, eases the burden on courts and saves time and expense. Participants were encouraged to adopt mediation for family, property and other civil disputes.
At Panchayat Thillo, village Dubri and the LAC, Chassana, PLVs of TLSC Mahore held a programme on mediation and pre-litigation settlement, explaining how pre-litigation mediation resolves disputes amicably before they reach the courts, saving time and expense and preserving cordial relationships. Participants were told that mediation is voluntary, confidential and aimed at mutually acceptable settlements through a neutral mediator and were encouraged to approach the legal services institutions, which facilitate access to justice for all, particularly the poor, marginalised and vulnerable.
