SAMBA: Rich Harvest School successfully hosted the two-day Inter-School Zonal-Level Sports Competitions for Under-19 Boys and Girls, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), on 11th and 12th August 2026 today culminated here at Rich Harvest School Bari Brahmana. The event brought together talented young sportspersons from various schools, providing them with an excellent platform to showcase their skills, talent, competitive spirit and sportsmanship. The competitions were conducted in Taekwondo, Yoga, Chess, Judo and Badminton, witnessing enthusiastic participation and spirited contests among the young athletes.
The competitions for Under-19 Boys were held on 11th August, while the Under-19 Girls' competitions culminated on 12th August. The event was inaugurated by Advocate Gambhir Dev Singh Charak, Working President, Dogra Sadar Sabha and Rich Harvest School, who welcomed the participating athletes, officials and staff members. He interacted with the young sportspersons, congratulated them on their enthusiastic participation and encouraged them to pursue excellence in sports with discipline, dedication and determination.
A warm welcome was accorded the guests, participating athletes, officials and staff members. Mr. Umesh Kumar Sharma, ZEPO, motivated the young athletes to give their best and uphold the values of discipline, dedication, teamwork and sportsmanship. He also supervised and supported the smooth conduct of the competitions.
Director Mrs. Ruchi Charak conveyed her warm wishes to all the players participating in the upcoming competition and encouraged them to approach the event with passion, dedication and a true sporting spirit. She expressed the hope that their efforts and achievements would motivate more young students to embrace sports and strive for excellence.
The competitions were officiated by officials associated with the Department of Youth Services and Sports, including Mr. Sunil Sharma, Mr. Rakesh Sharma, Mr. Mohinder Kumar, Ms. Neelam Devi, Ms. Nevjyoti Slathia, Mr. Saleem Choudhary, Ms. Sonia Choudhary, Ms. Priya Charak, Ms. Satya Devi and Mr. Pawan Singh.
The two-day sporting event witnessed intense and exciting contests, with participants displaying remarkable talent, determination and sporting excellence. Among the notable achievers from Rich Harvest School in the Boys' category were Mihir Mohd. and Girikshit in Chess, Pranav Verma in Badminton, and Arnav Sharma, Ronik Phounsa and Satyam Isher in Yoga. The names and achievements of the Girls' category winners are Khushi in Badminton, Purvi Sharma, Divya Saini, Rhythm Choudhary , Sanaya Sharma, Kavya Kotwal,& Kirtika Badgal in Yoga. All the winners have qualified for the District Level events.
The school management congratulated all the winners and participants for their commendable performances and appreciated the Department of Youth Services and Sports for organising the zonal-level competitions and providing students with valuable opportunities to compete and develop their sporting abilities.
The successful conduct and culmination of the two-day event highlighted the importance of sports in developing discipline, confidence, teamwork, resilience, leadership and a healthy competitive spirit among young learners.
