JAMMU: The Department of Educational Studies, Central University of Jammu, organized a one-day workshop on the Preparation of Lesson Plan for the B.A-B.Ed. Semester VII students at Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya “Shiksha” Bhawan. The workshop aimed to enhance pedagogical competencies among prospective teachers and to familiarize them with the systematic process of lesson planning. The event was organised under the visionary leadership of Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu.
The event featured two prominent sessions by the resource person Prof. Madhu Singh on theme related to making the Lesson Plan an important pillar of teacher education. The resource person was welcomed by Prof. Asit K. Mantry HoD, Department of Educational Studies. In his welcome address, Prof. Mantry reflected that the Department of Educational Studies keeps organising such events for the benefit of the teacher trainees. The session was chaired by a distinguished resource person Prof. Madhu Singh, Former Principal, M.C. Khalsa College of Education who elaborated on the theoretical as well as practical dimensions of lesson planning. She emphasised that lesson planning is not merely an administrative requirement but a professional necessity that ensures coherence, clarity, and efficiency in classroom practice. She talked about Teaching-learning process. In the second session she presented an elaboration on the two most important approaches RCEM and Constructivism approach and also demonstrated these approaches to students. An effective lesson plan should integrate well-defined objectives, appropriate teaching-learning strategies, relevant teaching aids, and continuous evaluation mechanisms. She further emphasized that lesson planning must be viewed as a reflective and creative exercise, wherein teachers adapt strategies according to learners’ needs, interests, and contextual realities. By drawing attention to the learner-centred approach, she encouraged the student-teachers to move beyond mechanical frameworks and design lesson plans that promote critical thinking, interaction, and experiential learning. CU Jammu remains committed towards the vision and commitment quality of teacher education which continues to inspire the department in its academic pursuits.
The vote of thanks was given by Dr. Mohan Galgotra, where he expressed his gratitude towards the resource persons for enlightening the students with their insightful knowledge and experience. The event was a great success under the guidance of the revered faculty members Prof. J.N Baliya, Prof. Ritu Bakshi, Dr. Kiran, Dr. Ravi Vanguri, Dr. Yad Ram and organising committee members Dr. Aman, Dr Mohan, Dr Ravail and Dr. Nidhi Sarraf.
In the end, the workshop proved to be an academically enriching experience, equipping student-teachers with the necessary skills to prepare structured, reflective, and impactful lesson plans, thereby strengthening their professional preparedness for future teaching endeavours.
