JAMMU: The Department of Law, University of Jammu, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir State Organ and Tissue Transplantation Organisation, organized an awareness program on the socio-legal and ethical aspects of organ and tissue transplantation.
The program aimed to educate students, faculty, and the general public about the importance of organ donation, the legal and ethical frameworks surrounding organ transplantation, and the socio-cultural implications of organ donation.
The Head of Department of Law, University of Jammu (Dr.) Manju Jamwal delivered a thought-provoking lecture on the significance of organ donation and transplantation. Miss Anshu Sharma, Consultant-IEC/Media at SOTTO J&K, highlighted various issues associated with organ transplantation.
The program deliberated on key legislations governing organ and tissue transplantation in India, including the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act, 1994, the Transplantation of Human Organs (Amendment) Act, 2011, and the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Rules, 2014.
The awareness program was inaugurated by Professor Dr. Savita Nayyar and featured valuable participation from esteemed members, including Dr. Navdeep Kaur Sassan. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Kartika Bakshi.Ms. Anissa Bashir conducted the proceedings of event.
