KULGAM: The District Administration Kulgam, in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department, hosted a vibrant celebration to commemorate ‘International Women's Day.’ The event featured an impressive lineup of activities highlighting women's achievements and entrepreneurship in the district. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan, who was the chief guest, graced the occasion and led the administration in putting together this meaningful celebration here at the conference hall.
A highlight of the event was an interactive session with special invitees including women from all walks of life including administration, entrepreneurs, professionals and working class. The event also featured a diverse exhibit featuring painting competition by school children, women entrepreneurs displaying their crafts, products and business activities by Sankalp Women's Hub Kulgam.
“This celebration reflects our commitment to women's empowerment and recognition of their invaluable contributions to our society and economy,” said the Deputy Commissioner during the event. He also highlighted endeavors of administration which have been taken to promote women empowerment.
The International Women's Day celebration served as a platform to recognize women's achievements and promote gender equality in the district. Speaking on the occasion, ACP Nazia Hassan said, “Let us accelerate the action regarding violence against the women, rights of women and make their life free of discrepancy.”
On the occasion resource persons from DLSA briefed the participants about several women centric initiatives taken by the Legal Services Authority Kulgam. Later, a felicitation function was held during which women from different walks of life including Sports, NRLM and Health were felicitated for their exemplary performance and immense contribution in their fields.
The program was attended by ADC Viqar Giri, ACR Mushtaq Lone, ACP Nazia Hassan, CMO, DLSA, College/ School girl students, female employees of labour and social welfare department.
