SAMBA:   District Administration Samba today organised a mega awareness programme at Rajpura as part of the 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan. The programme was held under the   guidance of the Deputy Commissioner Ayushi Sudan, reflecting the administration’s firm commitment to eradicating the menace of drug abuse from the district.

The event was graced by local Member Legislative Assembly Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, whose presence lent significant momentum to the initiative. In his inspiring address, Dr. Manyal called upon every section of society to stand united against the drug menace, emphasising that the battle against substance abuse is not merely an administrative challenge but a collective social responsibility. “The youth — the backbone of the nation — must be protected at all costs,” he stressed and urged seamless coordination among the district administration, educational institutions and the community at large to create a truly drug-free environment. He passionately encouraged the young generation to embrace a healthy, disciplined and purpose-driven lifestyle.

The programme served as a powerful platform to sensitize students about the devastating consequences of substance abuse, reinforcing the importance of early awareness and prevention. Engaging and impactful sessions were conducted to equip the youth with the knowledge and resolve needed to resist the allure of drugs. Addressing the gathering, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Ghagwal Kawaljit Singh Bali reaffirmed the administration’s unwavering resolve to sustain such awareness drives across the district. He underlined the indispensable role of public participation in making the Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan a success.

The programme was organised by local Tehsildar Karanjeet Singh, witnessing participation from the Principal Government Higher Secondary School, former public representatives including Former DDC and Former BDC Members and a large and gathering of students, all of whom pledged their support towards making District Samba free from the scourge of drug abuse.
