JAMMU: In a significant step towards promoting menstrual hygiene and ensuring accessibility to sanitary products, 10 sanitary pad vending machines were distributed across different branches of State Bank of India (SBI) in various districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
The three vending machines were installed at Model Higher Secondary School, Kishtwar by Kishtwar Helipad Branch, while Bhadarwah Udrrana Branch installed two vending machines at Girls Higher Secondary School, Bhadarwah and Udhampur Shiv Nagar Branch installed three vending machines at Girls Higher Secondary School, Udhampur besides Ramnagar Branch installed two vending machines at Girls Higher Secondary School, Ramnagar.
The initiative aims to empower young girls by providing easy access to sanitary products, thus breaking taboos surrounding menstrual hygiene and promoting awareness. The State Bank of India emphasized its commitment to menstrual health and hygiene by ensuring such facilities reach educational institutions, where young girls can benefit the most.
This initiative has been widely appreciated by students, teachers, and social activists, who lauded the efforts of the State Bank of India in fostering health, hygiene, and dignity for women and young girls.
