SRINAGAR: The three-day first ever annual sports meet for Paramedical and Nursing students of Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar began today. The inaugural ceremony was led by Principal and Dean GMC Srinagar Prof. (Dr.) Iffat Hassan.
While addressing the gathering, Principal/Dean GMC Srinagar complimented on enthusiasm and energy among the students. She said sports play a vital role in decreasing the mental stress that students face while adhering to their rigorous academic schedule.
This annual sports meet which is being conducted for the first time is an excellent opportunity for our students to showcase their athletic skills, build teamwork, and develop a spirit of healthy competition, added Prof. (Dr.) Iffat.
The event will run from 25th to 27th November 2024. Faculty members from the Nursing College and AMT School, along with students, actively participated in the opening event. The sports meet includes a range of competitions such as cricket, volleyball, football, badminton, table tennis, and several other games.
This sporting event serves as a platform for students to showcase their athletic skills and also provides a refreshing break from their academic routines. It fosters a spirit of healthy competition and encourages holistic development among participants.
Dignitaries present at the inaugural ceremony included Prof. (Dr.) Muzafar Jan, Chairman of the Sports Committee; Prof. (Dr.) Sabiya Majid Principal Govt BSc College of Nursing; Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, Administrator of GMC and Associated Hospitals; Dr Ajaz Patloo and Nighat Hafiz, Nodal Officer of the Government BSc Nursing College.
