JAMMU: Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Culture, Tourism, Horticulture, Floriculture and Parks, Priya Sethi today kick started 18 days long "Swachhata Hi Seva" programme, a nationwide sanitation campaign being organized by the Department of Floriculture. Quoting Gandhiji, Priya Sethi said that sanitation is more important than freedom, observing that a lavatory must be as clean as a drawing-room. She also said that the cause of many of our diseases is the habit of disposing garbage out in the open anywhere and everywhere which needs immediate correction.


The Minister informed that ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Swachh Bharat Abhiyan with a call to achieve Clean India by 2019, there has been tremendous response from different sections of the people as well as various state governments, local bodies, public representatives, NGOs and local communities. “ All these efforts should be further strengthen in the coming days, she added. Expressing optimism Priya Sethi reiterated her faith in Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign  which will give a big thrust to the momentum of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan as government functionaries are working tirelessly towards making India clean and healthy.


 In Jammu District various parks have been identified for the cleanliness drive including MHS Zanana Park, Club Park Gandhi Nagar, Green Belt Gandhi Nagar Compartment No. 1,3-7, Gole Market Park Gandhi Nagar , Zanana Park Talab Tillo, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park Digiana, Channi Himmat Sector -3 (Tube Well Park), Darbar Garh Park, Govt. Guest House Canal Road, Rani Park, Sohan Singh Park, Trikuta Nagar Park Sector -9, Bagh-e-Bahu etc.

Project Director,  Bagh-e-Bahu Project, Sunil Misri, Deputy Director Floriculture, A.K. Gupta, Dy. Director(P&S), Sukhleen Kour, Executive Engineer , Arvind Gupta, Accounts Officer, Sunil Kumar Gupta, Landscape Officer Bagh-e-Bahu , D.V.Gupta, Floriculture Officer Jammu ,S.K. Sultan and other officers of the department were present on the occasion.  Among others Baldev Baloria ,Anil Masoom, Neerru Anand, Savita Anand, Saroj, Sunny Sehgal, Sudhir Anand, Lalit and others were also present on the occasion.
