JAMMU: A plantation drive was carried out today by 187 Bn. CRPF at its camp in Battal Ballian, Udhampur. Officers and Jawans in large number participated in the drive and planted more than 1000 saplings to contribute toward Green India drive. Officers of Civil Administration also participated in the program with full enthusiasm. Saplings of various species of trees including Mango, Indian Gooseberry, Guava, Blackberry, Chinar and Shisham were planted during the drive at Unit HQ location and nearby areas.

The event was organized to spread the message and make people aware about the importance of a forestation due to changes in the environment. On the occasion, Shri P.C.Jha, DIG CRPF, (Ops) Jammu North, Shri Ravindra Kumar, IAS, DC, Udhampur, Shri Harinder Kumar, Commandant 187 Bn. CRPF alongwith other officers and personnel led the plantation drive and encouraged the people to make the earth green by planting as many trees as possible. A pledge was also administered by CRPF personnel to continue the plantation drives in future also.
