REASI: Targeting the plantation of more than one lakh plants in Trikuta Hills in next 30 days a mega plantation drive was launched today in the district Reasi from Panthal. District Development Commissioner, Dr Doifode Sagar Dattatray started the event from the Community facility Center Panthal in an impressive function.
ACD Reasi Dr Sunil Sharma, DFO Reasi Anil Kumar ,SDM Katra Ashok kumar Choudhary, DPO Reasi Parvinder Kour, Chief Horticulture Officer Reasi,Tehsildar katra Sunil Sharma, BDO Katra Sanjeev Sharma,Floriculture Officer katra , Principal and staff of Higher Secondary Panthal, large number of students, PRI members and locals were present on the occasion.
Around 3000 plants of different species were planted in today across the District. The event was organised by Rural Development Department Reasi as a part of MGNREGA to encourage green cover in the district in coordination with forest Department Reasi. While speaking on the occasion, the DC called upon the students and locals to come forward to spread the message of protection of green cover and encourage more population to actively participate in plantation for human prosperity.
Our target is to plant 100000 lakhs in next 30 days in Trikuta Hills added DC Reasi. He highlighted the role played by trees in preventing landslides, recharging the ground water level and preventing soil erosion. DC also spoked on Beti Bachayo Beti Padhayo and Swachh Bharat. He stressed on the importance of education for girls and said that an educated girl can contribute both towards the progress of family as well as country.The DC laid focus on the various Government schemes launched for the welfare of girls and urged them to avail benefits of these schemes.
Stressing on the famous saying 'Cleanliness is next to Godliness, DC urged all to cooperate with the administration in making the district clean and open defecation free. ACD Reasi speaking on the occasion said RDD Reasi will carry the program launched by DC with message of planting & preserving more and more trees. Our focus will be to ensures community participation in this drive.
A large number of locals and students took active part in planting saplings at CFC Panthal and at katra. On the occasion awareness about Beti Bachayo Beti Padhao program and swachh Bharat Mission (grameen) was also presented by students of Govt Higher Secondary School Panthal which was highly appreciated by audiences. At the end all participants also took the Swachhta pledge. The staff of RDD and PRIs also involved in clean-up drives later on this day and they cleaned the premises of panchayat offices and BDO offices.
