UDHAMPUR: On the occasion of World Health Day, extension lecture on the theme ‘General health Issues and their mitigation’ was organized by Government Degree College, here today. Dr. Arun Mahajan was the resource person on the occasion. He dealt in detail on various life-threatening diseases like diabetes, hypertension, obesity and cancer that are caused by faulty life style and illustrated that by making simple changes including healthy diet, fresh air, adequate exercise, avoiding junk food and practicing yoga we can stay healthy.
He further advised for using fresh fruits, vegetables and milk instead of packed and preserved food and stay away from health evils like alcoholism, drugs and tobacco and other intoxicants. Deputy Superintendent, District Hospital, Dr.Vijay Raina, also spoke on the theme and said that contraction of infections can be reduced by 50% simply by washing hands before taking food. He laid stress on playing our part in National SBM and ODF missions.
Principal, Dr. S.K. Magotra also highlighted the importance of such awareness programme for public welfare and asked students to act as messengers for spreading awareness among the masses on such important issues. The programme was attended by, Vice Principal, Dr. Udhey Bhanu, Prof. Romesh Kumar Atri, Prof. Suresh Kr. Dogra, Prof. Kamal Kishore, Dr.VipulChalotra, and NSS and NCC volunteers.
