JAMMU: Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu, in collaboration with the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce (DICCI), launched the eleventh batch of the Capacity Building Program on Small Business Development Units (SBDUs) at Bharat Classroom, Jagti. This initiative aims to establish 22 SBDUs across Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, empowering entrepreneurs and strengthening institutions for entrepreneurship development. The event was inaugurated by Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu.
In his address, Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, highlighted the vast opportunities for He encouraged participants to leverage government schemes like the J&K Yuva Scheme, in which IIM Jammu is actively involved, aiming to create over 1.4 lakh jobs.Stressing the value of hard work, humility, and ethical practices, he shared success stories of industrialists like the Ambanis and Birlas.
He also emphasized that no work is too small and urged participants to dream big while using the five-day program to learn from established entrepreneurs and faculty. He expressed confidence in their potential to build a healthy business ecosystem in the U.T. of J&K, contributing to the Union Territory, society, and the nation.
Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu, emphasized the institute’s focus on entrepreneurship and job creation through the SBDU project. He encouraged participants to use the five-day program to gain insights, collaborate, and spark new ideas, highlighting its value for their career growth.
The ceremony commenced with the traditional lamp lighting, followed by the Campus Audio Visual of IIM Jammu. Brief introductions from the participants offered insights into their backgrounds and aspirations, enriching the diverse tapestry of the program. Dr. Mahesh Gadekar, Chairperson, Centre for Small Business Development, IIM Jammu, in his address, provided an overview of the program, setting the stage for an enriching journey of learning and growth. Present on the occasion were Dr. Garima Saini, Program Director, IIM Jammu, Dr. Vivek Sharma, Chief Innovation Officer (CIO), IIM Jammu and Shri Naren Karunakaran, Consultant, SBDU, IIM Jammu.
The program aims to refine their abilities, enabling them to play a crucial role in realizing the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, as envisioned by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Garima Saini, Program Director, IIM Jammu.
