SRINAGAR: District Police Kargil organized a programme “Share your singing-Kargil Talent Hunt” at Linguistic Centre, Bazaar Kargil. The programme was conducted under the banner of Civic Action Programme 2018-19.

Addl.SP Kargil Shri Khalid Amin inaugurated the event followed by with his welcome speech through which he extended his greetings and warm wishes to all the participants and audience. He further said that the aim of the programme is to provide a conducive platform to the young singers from Kargil to channelize their latent singing talent. He added that District Police Kargil through Civic Action Programmes always strives to create and develop a genuine platform that enables real artists from the District to be able to share their gift with the World.

The programme witnessed a participation of 21 young budding singers from various parts of the district. The singers with their melodious voices kept audience on their feet. At the conclusion, Prize Distribution Ceremony was held in which all the participants and musicians were given cash prize and certificate of participation. The local public hailed the efforts of the police for providing such platforms to youth for refining their talent and explore opportunity to nurture their talent.

UDHAMPUR: Department of Information & Public Relations J&K today organized a painting cum symposium competition on the topic “Sustainable Reduction in Disaster Risk” at Kalra College of Education new Industrial area Battal Ballian, Udhampur. Principal of the host College, Dr. Neelam Bakshi  was the chief guest on the occasion.

As many as 30 students participated in the painting cum symposium competition expressed their views on the topic Sustainable Reduction in Disaster Risk. In painting competition, Sonika Rani Sem- 2nd clinched 1st position while Parul Gupta Sem-4th and Ashima Sharma Sem- 2nd bagged 2nd and 3rd positions. Similarly in symposium competition Shivani Sharma bagged 1st position while Kanika Gupta and Sonali Sharma got 2nd and 3rd position respectively.

While addressing the gathering,  the chief guest said that the main motive of organizing this  competition is to aware the students  about reducing the risks during  various disasters and  to increase their understanding  of the dangers in the  children  and to bring  out the  modalities of dealing  with them . She urged the students to lead and encourage fellow students to promote risk awareness and natural disaster reduction.

During the contest, a painting and awareness material was also distributed among the students and staff members on the occasion. Later, Principal of the college distributed prizes and certificates among the participants. Officials of information department staff members and students of the college were also present on the occasion.

  • DC Budgam calls for preservation of Kashmiri Culture

BUDGAM: Deputy Commissioner, Budgam Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar today called for preservation of unique Kashmiri culture and tradition as identity. The DC made these remarks today while speaking as a chief guest at Jashn-e-Bahaar a cultural event held at Sheikh-Ul-Alam Hall Budgam. The daylong event was organized by J&K Police Budgam where prominent artists performed and presented their talent.

Among others, SP Budgam, Amod Ashok Nagpure, ADC Budgam, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, Dr Bilal Mahiuddin Bhat IAS Probationer, SSP Baqir Samoon, ASP Budgam Muneer Hussain, ACR Budgam Zaffar Shawl, district and sectoral officers, officers from SSB, SDPOs and prominent personalities from different walks of life attended the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC emphasized on involving more and more youth in cultural related events and programmes for preservation of Kashmiri culture as “our identity”. She said that such programmes are important to keep westernization at bay to influence our young minds at the cost of our own unique culture and tradition.      

She urged youth to take active part in such programmes and reflect Kashmir’s own identity, “we are famous for”. The DC said that the Budgam district has been home to various prominent personalities who have enriched our Kashmiri culture with their literary work and contribution. She urged youth of Budgam to stick to their roots to enrich our culture with their contribution.

SP Budgam, Amod Ashok Nagpure, while speaking at the inaugural session said that the initiative of organizing the cultural event is an attempt from the police to provide a platform to young and prominent artists to perform and showcase their talent. He said that Budgam being a famous place for Art and Music has huge talent in folk music and other cultural activities.  He said police will organize more such programmes to provide an opportunity to the artists to perform in future too.

On the occasion, various scintillating live musical performances and cultural shows were presented by the artists and students from local schools and made the event lively. Artists also performed various skits and shows to create awareness on drug abuse, calling for joint effort by all to fight to curb the menace from the society.

SP Budgam distributed trophies among the artists for their best performances on the occasion. The performers who participated include Rayees Wathoree, Waqar Khan, Abid Ali, Ayoub, Umer and others. SDPO Khansahab presented vote of thanks speech on the occasion.
