UDHAMPUR: ‘Tribal Festival 2018 was organized by North Zone Cultural Centre Patiala (an Autonomous Ministry Government of India) in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Jammu and Govt. Degree College Udhampur, here today. Member Legislative Assembly Udhampur, Pawan Kumar Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion. Around 165 artists from different states of the country showcased multicultural identity of the nation by performing tribal folk dance and folk music using folk instruments.


Speaking on the occasion, Pawan Kumar Gupta said that by organizing this fest here, North Zone Cultural Centre Patiala has achieved its core objectives of familiarizing people with diverse cultural identity of the nation. Principal, Prof. Dr. S.K. Magotra underlined importance of such events in bringing out the hidden talent by providing platform to the youth alongwith holistic development of their personality.


 During the programme, artists Kaksar from (Chhattisgarh) Tanang Selo(Sikkim), Gaddi Bati(H.P), Chakri Dance (Rajasthan), Dhamali (JK),Hojagiri (Tripura) presented mesmerizing performances which were highly enthralled by the audiences. Later, Secretary NZCC, Patiala presented formal vote of thanks. Among others, renowned theatre artists from Cultural Academy, Prof. Samosh Kumar from Department of Music of the host College, Dr. Sudhir Mahajan from J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages besides Senior faculty members of the college and students were present on the occasion.
