JAMMU: An initiative by Mirchi 98.3 Jammu with the help of Directorate of Samagra Shiksha, Kano Dekhi Film Festival was organised, wherein there was a special screening of the Amir Khan starrer movie Dangal, which was a special audio movie produced by Saksham Foundation, for the visually impaired. The Kaano Dekhi Film Festival was organised at Platinum Movie Time SPA, Palm Island Mall; where the students of The Blind school, Roop Nagar Jammu and The Indian Red Cross society were shown the movie that revolves around Mahavir Singh Phogat, a former wrestler, who decides to fulfil his dream of winning a gold medal for his country by training his daughters for the Commonwealth Games despite the existing social stigmas.
98.3 Mirchi RJs, Mirchi Shwetima, Mirchi Nishant and Mirchi Nikki who host their shows daily from the studio struck a chord with the adorable kids and the sparks of love was visible on their faces. Kaano Dekhi Film Festival is a special initiative by the MirchiCares group, conducted throughout India for kids who have restricted vision that stops them from enjoying movies. Through the special narration of movies, Mirchi 98.3 tries to make their lives merrier.
Radio Mirchi 98.3 started their operation in Jammu formally with the Honourable CM of J&K on 10th of October 2017 and after that the city had no looking back. Shwetima more popularly known as Jammu di Kudi leads the morning show from 7am to 11 am with a fan base increasing at an exponential rate on daily basis. She loves to stay happy no matter what and equally loves to stay full. Her love for food can be gauged from the fact that in her bag, you will always find two tiffins – empty, because she ate them before you found them. Her love for the city keeps her connected to the people, their emotions and helps them find their happiness.
Nikki on the other hand is a late comer, who is always running to be on time. But she is never late for her show that is from 2 – 5 PM daily as she loves her job more than her studies – yes she is still a student of MBA, Jammu University and with the tight schedule she is in, University plus job, she eats treadmill for breakfast and dumbbells for lunch, to keep herself going.
Nishant is a ticking trickster, mocking, humouring all the time and his veins have sarcasm, if not blood. His witty show that starts at 5 PM everyday will tickle all your bones, funny and unfunny. People of the city connect with him when they are frustrated to shed it all off in his special segment JK47 – Bhadass. On this occasion the Chief Guest, Secretary School Education Department Mr. Ajeet Kumar Sahu stressed upon organizing similar activities for CWSN and to create awareness about inclusive education among the society in general.
Director of Samagra Shiksha Dr. Arun Manhas was also present at the event along with State Coordinator Samagra Shiksha inclusive education. Dr. Ravinder Jangral also graced the occasion with his presence. Jammu Sanskriti School also participated in the event as partners. Their students participated in order to promote inclusive education. MD of Jammu Sanskriti School, Mr. Harpreet Anand said that their school has always believed in inclusive education for the specially abled children and such activities imbibe the sense of respect among young children.
Speaking on the occasion, the Station Director of Radio Mirchi 98.3, J&K, Sumit Kakkar, “We are proud to be the execution partners for such initiative. Mirchi Cares has in past done a similar screening of Airlift, Sholay and now Dangal. We are proud to continue being a part of such initiatives and thank you partners for their support.” Khushboo Mattoo, who heads the Programming for J&K added that it is these special initiatives that bring changes in the city and that bring happiness in the true sense. She also added that 98.3 Mirchi will keep the city buzzing with more initiatives and engagements.
