  • Kavinder Gupta hails organizers for promoting budding talent

KATRA: An All India Devotional Song competition was today held at the holy town of Katra as part of the ongoing Navratra festival. Speaker of Jammu and Kashmir State Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta who was the chief guest at the occasion hailed the organizers for organizing the event to promote budding talent.  The speaker started the programme by lightening the traditional lamp in presence of MLA Reasi Ajay Nanda and ADC Reasi Shiv Kumar Gupta.

Kavinder Gupta while extending the greetings of the Navratra Festival praised the organizers of All India Devotional Song Competition, for putting in their best efforts to provide the young talent a platform to exhibit their singing skills. He said the event has also helped in attracting huge number of pilgrim tourists to the state. Gupta said that the event has become hugely popular and stressed on its continuation in future too.

Earlier, Chairman of All India Devotional song competition, Rakesh Wazir, delivered welcome address and highlighted the importance of this competition. He said that grand finale of the All India Devotional Song Competition will be held on 21st of Oct. and winner will be awarded with Rs. 2 Lakh and a recording contract with Venus Records & Tapes ltd. As many as 13 participants participated on the second day of competition.

In the preliminary round of competition Chaman Lehri of Reasi was adjudged 1st, Mr. Mukesh Sharma from Jandrah adjudged 2nd and 3rd position was shared jointly by Aarti  from Jammu &  Vaishali Prajapati from Udhampur. Cash prizes of 5000/- , 3000/- and 2000/-  were  given to Ist, 2nd and 3rd  position holders  respectively. The Devotional Song Competition was judged by the panel of experts including Brij Mohan leading Music Composer, Anupama Sharma Professor Music Degree College Parade and Pt. Subash Ghosh from West Bengal.

MLA Reasi,  Mr Ajay Nanda, ADC Reasi Shiv Kumar Gupta, SSP Reasi Surjit Kumar, SP Katra, Mr. Sumir kotwal, SDM Katra Anil Kumar, DD Tourism S K Atri, AD Toursim Ashima, AD Tourism Jammu Dr Umesh Shan,   senior officers of different departments, members of Navratra Celebration Committees, prominent citizens and large number of people were present on the occasion.

RAJOURI:  To involve jail inmates into recreational activities and provide them a different environment from their usual routine, a cultural programme was today organised at District Jail, Rajouri  by District Information  Centre, Rajouri. This programme was attended by Sanjeev Kumar, Superintendent District  Jail, Rajouri , Mohammad Sagir, BDO Darhal   besides cultural artists from information department.  Jail staff along with jail inmates    also participated in the function.

Superintendent District Jail, Rajouri in his address thanked the information department for organising such a ‘wonderful   cultural  programme.’ He said that such programme act as stress reliever and create an enjoyable environment for the jail inmates. He also requested information department for organising more such entertainment oriented functions in jail.  The jail inmates also displayed their   talent in singing, dancing and poetry recitation. They expressed their hope and keenness to have more such programmes in future.

KATRA: As a part of Navratra Festival, Katra Culture Club last evening organized a Multi lingual National level Kavi-Sammelan based on Hasya. Vice Chairman Kissan Advisory board, Kunwar Daljeet Singh Chib   was the chief guest on the occasion. Earlier, the function was inaugurated by the chief guest by lighting a traditional lamp at the venue of the Sammelan in presence of the Members of Navratra celebration committee and other functionaries of the organizing agencies.

While speaking on the occasion, the chief guest lauded the efforts of the organizers for organizing this event and stressed upon them to organize more such programmes particularly for providing platform to budding poets in exploring their talents. He also extended warm wishes to the people as well as pilgrims on the occasion of Navratra festival 2015.

The poets who recited their verses in the Kavi-Sammelan   included  Dr Balram Sahni from Haryana , Kanchan Bhallah from Chandigarh, Aashi Esspuri from UP, Hari Singh Dilbar, Sufi Jugjeet, Satish Popular and Kuldeep Singh Aulak From Delhi etc. The thought provoking poetic presentations by the poets on different issues received loud applause from the audience.

Later, artists of Awadh Loksamuh from Ayodhya also presented a popular devotional dance which was highly appreciated by the audience. Presenting vote of thanks, the Chairman of the club extended his sincere thanks to Navratra festival organizing committees and people of Katra for supporting the event. Among others, Chairman Katra Culture Club,  Mr. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Vice Chairman, Mr. Sardari Lal Dubey, President, Mr. Virender Kesar,  Mr. Naresh Kumar, Sarpanch Shamachak Ashok Mahajan and large number of people were also present in the Kavi Sammelan.
