- Appreciates the diverse nature of Talent Hunt, advises students to pursue diverse fields
SHOPIAN: The Department of Education, Shopian today organised a felicitation function at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Shopian in order to appreciate the contribution of district level toppers of Kala Utsav. Kala Utsav is an annual event organized by the Ministry of Education to promote and celebrate artistic talent among students from schools across the country.
Part of the SAMAGRA SHIKSHA initiative, Kala Utsav encourages students in secondary and higher secondary schools to engage in arts, including visual arts, music, dance, theater and traditional crafts. The event provides a platform for students to showcase their cultural heritage, creative skills, and artistic talents. It usually involves regional and national-level competitions, with winners recognized at the national level.
In the district, more than 3000 students participated in the Kala Utsav across four educational zones of the district. 20 best performing students of the district were rewarded in the function today. The aim is to foster an appreciation for the diverse cultural traditions of India and encourage creativity as an integral part of education, said ADDC, Dr Nasir Ahmad Lone on the occasion.
He also advised students on a wide range of issues including the importance of parental guidance, vital role of teachers in the educational trajectory of a student. Earlier, CEO Shopian, M Shabir interacted with students and commended their achievements in the competition. The function was also attended by District Information Officer, Shopian, Showkat Hussain Ganie; Principal, GHSS Shopian, and other officials and members of the cultural team.
