BARAMULLA: The District Administration Baramulla commemorated Armed Forces Flag Day with a meaningful ceremony at the district headquarter, honoring the sacrifices made by the Indian Armed Forces. The event was presided over by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, who was joined by senior district officers and other staff members.
The ceremony featured a flag-badging event, during which the Zila Sainik Welfare Officer pinned flags on attendees as a mark of respect and gratitude for the armed forces. The DC led the occasion by making the first donation to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund, encouraging others to contribute.
In his address, Minga Sherpa underscored the importance of the Armed Forces Flag Day, urging the public to contribute to the welfare fund, which plays a vital role in assisting and rehabilitating veterans and their dependents. The Zila Sainik Welfare Officer expressed gratitude to the attendees for their contributions and outlined the various welfare initiatives supported by the fund.
Similarly, Armed Forces Flag Day functions were held at the Sub-Divisional and Tehsil-levels in Sopore, Uri, Pattan and Gulmarg, where flag-badging ceremonies were conducted and generous contributions were made to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund. These functions highlighted a strong commitment to supporting the welfare of ex-servicemen, war widows and their families.
