KULGAM: State Level Coordinating agency (SLCA) in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department Kulgam and District Administration Kulgam conducted a comprehensive day-long certificate training programme for Master Volunteers under the Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) at the Auditorium Hall of Mini Secretariat Kulgam.

The programme was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Athar Aamir Khan. ADC Kulgam,Viqar Ahmed Giri; ACR, DSWO and other officials from the District Administration were present at the event.

This initiative was executed in partnership with the National Institute of Social Defense (NISD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, as part of ongoing efforts to mitigate drug abuse across the nation. Addressing the occasion, the DC provided insights into multiple initiatives launched by District Administration Kulgam aimed at combating drug-related issues.

These include poppy eradication efforts, property confiscation of drug peddlers under NDPS Act, lodging FIRs against offenders involved in drug trafficking activities, installation of surveillance cameras in pharmacies for better monitoring practices as well as implementing computerized billing systems.

He also commended efforts made by Drug De-addiction Centre Kulgam. The program witnessed participation from Master Volunteers selected across various departments including Education and Rural Development.
