JAMMU: The Debate and Reading Club of Central University of Jammu, under the patronage of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain and Dr. Ritu Bakshi, Dean Students' Welfare, organized a vibrant event to commemorate Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas. The event brought together students from various departments to engage in intellectual activities that honored the life, culture, and contributions of India’s Janjatiya Samaj.
The club, led by Dr. Bharti Gupta as convenor and Jai Bhawani Singh as co-convenor, organized a declamation competition, and a panel discussion, offering a platform for students to showcase their understanding and perspectives on the rich heritage and pivotal role of tribal communities in shaping Indian society. The declamation competition, which was judged by Dr. Amit Gangotia and Jai Bhawani Singh, saw enthusiastic participation, with winners namely Aman Kumar Chaudhary, Sparsh Kumar and Arzoo Choudhary receiving trophies for securing the first, second, and third positions respectively.
The highlight of the event was the panel discussion, featuring distinguished speakers Fateh Lal Bheel, Assistant Professor from the Department of Social Work, and Biswa Bhushan Pradhan from the Department of Tourism and Travel Management. The panelists explored significant aspects of the life and culture of the Janjatiya Samaj, shedding light on their enduring contributions to the nation’s social, cultural, and economic fabric. Their insights sparked thought-provoking discussions among the attendees.
The program was meticulously conducted by Sachiv Gupta, the student convener of the club, whose efforts ensured the smooth execution of the event. The event concluded with a note of appreciation and further clarity on the discussion by Jai Bhawani Singh. The initiative emphasized the importance of fostering a deeper understanding and respect for the diversity of Indian society through active student engagement.
