ANANTNAG : The District Administration Anantnag organized an awareness program on the new criminal laws at the town hall today. The event saw participation from officers, officials, and members of the general public. The awareness camp aimed to familiarize participants with the updated criminal laws, particularly focusing on provisions introduced to address the evolving social, technological, and demographic landscape, and the new challenges these changes present.
The program commenced with an informative address by Dy.SP headquarters Anantnag, Ayoub Rather. This was followed by presentations from Zakir Hussain Lone, Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel Anantnag, and Mohammad Idrees Magray, Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsel Anantnag. Waseem Jan, a social activist, also shared his perspectives on the new laws, highlighting their importance and the role of society in their effective implementation.
The initiative is expected to contribute significantly to public awareness of the new criminal law provisions. These laws are designed to be based on the principle of justice, rather than solely punitive. The awareness campaign will continue at the block level to ensure broader public access to information about the new criminal law provisions.
