SHOPIAN: General Observer for 37- Shopian Assembly Constituency, Roohi Khan today took a comprehensive assessment of election related plans at Shopian for the smooth and fair conduct of upcoming Assembly elections.
At the outset, the Observer interacted with micro- observers and sensitised them about their role in the elections. The Observer addressed their specific queries on mock poll, other assignments and also briefed them on filling the proforma, which are vital as per the guidelines.
The Observer also reviewed the receipt, dispatch & counting plans and transport plans with respective Nodal officers and suggested improvements for the impactful execution on the pre- poll & poll day.
While reviewing Postal ballots with the Nodal Officer, the Observer instructed for enrolling maximum eligible essential service staff and drivers deputed with the transport department for availing the postal ballot facility for registering their vote while not compromising their duties.
At GDC Shopian, the Observer attended the training session of women staff for pink polling stations. On the occasion, the Observer asked for replacing all staff from election related duties who have relationships with contesting candidates.
Later, Roohi Khan assessed assured minimum facilities (AMF) of polling stations with RO, AROs and BDOs, and reiterated her earlier instructions on strengthening help desks at polling stations with enhanced staff from line departments.

PULWAMA: Expenditure Observer (EO) for Pulwama, Shrikant N, today visited the 32-Pampore Assembly Constituency and conducted an inspection at the office of the Returning Officer (RO) Pampore. During the visit, the EO reviewed the expenditure registers maintained by the candidates for the ongoing Legislative Assembly Elections 2024.
Shrikant N carefully examined the financial records to ensure compliance with the Election Commission of Indiaâs guidelines on expenditure monitoring. He emphasized the importance of transparency and accuracy in the maintenance of expenditure registers and reiterated that strict action would be taken in case of any discrepancies.
The visit forms part of the Election Commission's comprehensive oversight mechanism to ensure fair and transparent elections, with particular focus on the monitoring of candidate spending.

BUDGAM: The General Observers Giriwar Dayal Singh, Nitesh K Patil; Police Observer Prashant Kumar Agarwal and Expenditure Observers Ravinder Kumar and Avinash Kaur Kalsi today held a joint meeting here to take first-hand appraisal of the preparedness for General Assembly elections 2024 in District Budgam.
The meeting was attended by District Election Officer (DEO) Akshay Labroo, SSP Budgam Nikhal Borkar, ROs of all 5- Assembly constituencies of Budgam, Dy. DEO, all Nodal Officers of the District.
At the outset, the Observers held an extensive interaction with all ROs and Nodal Officers of the District and discussed threadbare various crucial aspects related to the conduct of General Assembly elections 2024 in the District.
The Observers imparted important instructions to the officers and impressed upon them to ensure strict implementation of the Model Code of Conduct.
All Returning officers of 5 - Assembly constituencies and other Nodal Officers provided a detailed overview of the arrangements including Material Management, SVEEP, Election Management Machinery, Election Expenditure Monitoring, EVM Management, arrangements at polling stations and Distribution Cum Receipt Centres (DCRC) and other measures undertaken for smooth and peaceful conduct of the forthcoming Assembly elections in the district.
While reviewing the status of polling stations, the DEO informed that a total 639 polling stations are established with all Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF) at designated locations in the district besides Special Polling stations are also established in different locations of the district.
SSP Budgam briefed the meeting regarding the security plan and status of security personnel for Pre Poll and Poll day. He said that sufficient CCTV cameras are also installed on all critical locations to ensure round the clock surveillance in the district.
The Observers emphasized upon the importance of conducting rigorous training sessions for polling staff to ensure efficiency and precision during the election process. They urged officers to perform their duties with unwavering commitment to ensure free and fair assembly polls in Budgam.
