JAMMU: 62nd Annual Raising Day of Homeguards & Civil Defence was celebrated today at SDRF 2nd Bn Hqrs, Gulshan Ground Jammu. Umesh Kumar, DIG HG/CD & SDRF Jammu extended greetings of Raising Day to Jawans and highlighted the duties as well as responsibilities of Homeguards and Civil Defence volunteers as first responders during any kind of disaster. He also praised the role and assistance extended by the officers and men from Civil Defence and Homeguards during the past one year.
During the event, greeting messages of his Excellency President of India, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Union Home Minister, Lieutenant Governor UT J&K, Chief Minister UT J&K and senior functionaries of Govt. of India and Union Territory Administration were also read out.
Commandant SDRF 2nd Bn Jammu Zahid Naseem Manhas; Director Homeguards Jammu Sanjeev Kumar Yadav; Staff officer to Commandant General HG/CD & SDRF J&K Atul Sharma, alongwith wardens of Civil Defence and the Homeguards participated in the function. Officers and officials of the Directorate of HG/CD & SDRF J&K-Jammu, DIG, HG/CD & SDRF Jammu, SDRF 2nd Bn Jammu, Director HG Jammu were also present on the occasion.
Annual Raising Day was also celebrated in Kashmir Srinagar where SSP, Commandant SDRF 1st Bn. Srinagar Masroor Ahmad Mir was the chief guest. The wardens/volunteers of Civil Defence and Homeguard volunteers along with the officers/officials of HG/CD & SDRF of Kashmir Province were also present on the occasion.
The welcome address was presented by Dy.SP, Dy. Controller Civil Defence Jammu Anita Pawar, while vote of thanks was presented by Dy.SP, Principal CTI HG/CD Kotbhalwal Jammu Dev Raj. He thanked all the field officers for their participation in the event and assured that Homeguards and Civil Defence volunteers would continue to perform their work with dedication and commitment in future as they have done in the past. At the end, a working Lunch was also served to the guests and participants on the occasion.
