JAMMU: The National Sikh Front, under the leadership of Chairman S. Varinderjeet Singh, has warmly welcomed the United States government’s historic decision to dedicate a street in Fremont, California, to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the ninth Sikh Guru. This gesture has been celebrated as a landmark acknowledgment of the Guru’s enduring legacy of religious freedom, human rights, and social justice.
Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, honored as Hind Di Chadar (Shield of India), made the ultimate sacrifice in 1675 to defend the religious liberties of Kashmiri Hindus against forced conversions by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. His martyrdom is a symbol of resistance to tyranny and an affirmation of universal human dignity. Speaking on this significant development, S. Varinderjeet Singh, Chairman of the National Sikh Front, stated:

The U.S. government’s recognition of his contributions through the naming of 'Guru Tegh Bahadur Avenue' is a proud moment for Sikhs worldwide. The dedication ceremony, which coincided with Shaheedi Diwas (Martyrdom Day) of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, was attended by U.S. officials, interfaith leaders, and Sikh community members. It featured prayers, cultural performances, and discussions about the Guru’s message of compassion, equality, and justice. Chairman S. Varinderjeet Singh emphasized the importance of such events in fostering global understanding of Sikh values and their universal relevance.
