POONCH: In a significant step towards empowering the agricultural community, Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal, today distributed 27 new Kisan Credit Smart Cards among eligible farmers. The initiative aims to provide farmers with easy access to financial support for their agricultural needs, crucial for fostering sustainable livelihoods in the region.
The Deputy Commissioner interacted with the farmers, explained various agricultural schemes and underscored the importance of raising awareness about the numerous benefits these schemes offer. The Chief Agriculture Officer reported that as of today, a total of 39,098 farmers are benefiting from the KCC Smart Card scheme in the district, available at a competitive interest rate of 4%.
Furthermore, under the PM Kisan initiative, 42,881 farmers are receiving support of Rs. 6,000, distributed in three installments in a year, with a total of 19 installments already disbursed. The event was attended by PO ICDS Khalid Hussain Wafa;, SDAO Charanjit Singh Raina; Cluster Head JK Bank Aijaz; LDM representative and other staff members of JK Bank, Grameen Bank and the Agriculture Department who collectively contributed towards the successful implementation of this important initiative.
