KATHUA: To achieve more effective traffic management system and hassle free vehicular movement in the present situation when the whole NHW is under construction from Lakhanpur to Bari Brahmana, SSP Traffic Rural Jammu Girdhari Lal Sharma visited Kathua and interacted with Shobhit Saxena SSP Kathua. The SSP Traffic apprised and discussed with him the problems and issues related to traffic management in Kathua District. An interactive session with the Traffic Police Personnel of Kathua area and on NHW was also held and Traffic nafri deployed in the area were addressed.
At the outset, the Traffic Police personnel were informed about the priorities in light of the present security / traffic scenario to be taken into account for hassle free traffic regulation in their areas of responsibility.
SSP Traffic Rural Jammu stressed upon the Traffic Officers to check/ take note of all the traffic related menaces in order to avoid the traffic chaos on NHW despite the ongoing construction work. They were asked to ensure that the general public and all the PSV operators shall follow the traffic rules for their own safety and cooperate with Traffic Police. He further stressed upon the officers that enforcement drives be made stringent in their area of responsibility and violators shall be dealt accordingly under Motor Vehicle Act strictly.
The officers and officials were further briefed about their duties particularly during the construction work which leads to congestion at the bottlenecks as well as single lanning on either side of the NHW. They were urged upon to work in close coordination with District Administration, District Police and other agencies/stakeholders especially the NHAI authorities for better and obstruction free traffic management and minimising mishaps .
Enforcement of traffic rules under MV Act was also emphasized to achieve the desired result. Moreover, stress was laid on holding special awareness sessions to familiarize the general public, especially youth about the Traffic laws and other road safety measures. SSP Traffic Rural Jammu was also accompanied by Sukhdev Singh Dy SP Samba Kathua.
