KATHUA: National Conference SC Cell has slammed PDP-BJP Government for pursuing anti weaker section policies, stating that it has callously ignored the interests of Scheduled Caste population. “The headway made with regard to empowerment of weaker sections during National Conference led government has been undone by the present dispensation that lacks the sensitivity of addressing to the issues confronting these segments of society”, Co-Chairperson NC SC Cell Mr Vijay Lochan said while addressing a day-long workers convention here. Mr Subash chander Azad District President SC Cell Kathua was organized the convention.

State Vice President Th Kashmira Singh and Provincial Vice President Mr Anil Dhar also addressed the convention and enumerated the initiatives taken by the successive National Conference Governments in ameliorating the lot of weaker sections, especially Scheduled Caste segment of the society. Thakur Kashmira Singh regretted that PDP-BJP Government has totally failed in delivering justice to the people belonging to reserved categories. “As a result of constant neglect, the weaker sections of society have almost been left in lurch”, he added.  

The State Vice President said that National Conference will always continue to espouse the cause of poor, down-trodden and weaker sections, which has remained cornerstone of its policy all along. He recalled the contribution of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah towards upliftment and welfare of Scheduled Caste category and said that literacy and socio-economic emancipation got impetus during his tenure and the successive National Conference governments.  

Speaking on the occasion, the Provincial Vice President Mr Anil Dhar said that National Conference has always worked tirelessly towards the progress and prosperity of the people without discrimination of caste, colour, creed, region or religion. “Due to the continuous efforts of the party leadership, the injustice and oppression of yester- years is but a fading memory now”, Mr Dhar said. He however lamented that the present dispensation is showing scant regard for the welfare of weaker segments of society.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Mr Dhian Chand Ex-MLA, Mr Simran Dass, Mr Ravinder Singh Salathia, Mr Som Raj Taroh, Mr Buti Ram, Mrs Bharati  Sharma, Mrs Somo Devi, Mr Yashpal , S.  Harpreet Singh Sethi, Mrs Anju Sharma, Mr Babu Ram and others.
