JAMMU: Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat paid rich tributes to Maharaja Gulab Singh on the eve of his 225th birth anniversary. Remembering the Maharaja, the Minister said that his rule was a glorious period of Jammu and Kashmir Kingdom. He said that contribution of Maharaja for welfare and development of the state would be recognized and remembered by generations to come.


Describing Maharaja Gulab Singh as a visionary, Bali Bhagat said that his great statesmanship coupled with deep foresight that enabled him to make use of every opportunity to change the boundaries of the empires and destinies of the people. He was a brave and great human who provided justice to all and treated the public equally, the Minister added. Taking personal interest in the management of the affairs of the state, Maharaja restored order in his territories, reduced refractory chiefs and through remarkable campaigns connected Kishtwar, Baltistain, Ladakh and Gilgit, the Minister further said.
