CHATROO:  Vice President of Jammu and Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today said that idea of change is getting strengthened in the state because large numbers of people are joining Congress to become part of the movement for the change.  The Congress press release claimed that functions were organized at Hilnaar, Chatroo and at his residence to welcome Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) workers from Chatroo areas, who joined Congress in presence of Mr. Saroori.

While welcoming the new entrants into the party including former block president of PDP from Chatroo, Chowdhary Mohd Qasim. Mr. Saroori observed that workers from ruling party are joining Congress which was a clear indication that that there was a strong resentment against the present dispensation which has miserably failed to address grievances of the people. He said that it was result of the people’s disillusionment with the present regime that people from all the corners are coming forward to join Congress to become part of the movement for change.

Saroori said it was result of the good governance of the previous Congress led coalition that there was realization among all sections of the society only Congress has the vision and commitment to address their aspirations. “Congress has earned faith and credibility of the people of Jammu and Kashmir”, he said and reminded the gathering that Congress during its tenure had proved its capability of changing life of the common masses by treating all individual equally and providing equal opportunities to all sections of the society.

“The Congress led regime during its tenure had generated governance consciousness among the people who had a taste of good governance and pro-people administration”, he said. “Having tasted the good governance during our tenure, the people had hope that the present regime PDP and BJP would also follow the path of its predecessor but this regime has failed to provide even basic amenities to the common masses”, Saroori observed.

State Congress Vice President expressed hope that with the joining of the workers, the Congress will further strengthen its base at the grassroots level in the area. He asked them to serve the people and spread the programmes and policies of the Congress party and expose the failure of coalition government of J&K. The newly joined workers including Former president PDP block committee Chatroo, Chowdhary Mohd Qasim, senior PDP leader from Chatroo Ghulam Mohd, Abdullah Katari, Shamasdin, Bashir Ahmed, Abdul Kareem, Jamal Din, Somnath, Sehaj Ram, Kuldeep Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Babi Chand, Kishore Kumar, Ranjeet Kumar, Ghulam Hussain, Abdullah, Nasir Ahmed, Fareed Ahmed, Altaf Hussain Reshi, Chowdhary Nasra, Bashir Ahmed, Abdul Kareem, Mohd Aslam, Ghulam Mohd, Krishan Lal, Bodh Ram and others from Chatroo belt while speaking said the move they claimed was made necessary because the PDP-BJP government was implementing the “RSS agenda” in Jammu and Kashmir.

“We have been with the PDP and BJP for the last more than 10 years. But now we feel that the works of people are not being done. They said whenever we raise problems of the people, like drainage, drinking water, electricity, MGNREGA payment, improvement of road connectivity, nobody in the PDP and BJP listens to us. They said that Congress policies for upliftment of poor people have motivated them to join this party. So, we decided to join the Congress party. They expressed their resolve to work for further strengthening the party in Chatroo belt.
