SRINAGAR: Commandant General SDRF /HG /CD, Shri Dilbagh Singh made a surprise visit to District Anantnag, today. The senior officer was accompanied by Director Home guards Kashmir Shri Javid Hassan Bhat, Commandant SDRF 1st Bn Sgr Shri Bashir Ahmad Sofi, SO to Commandant General Shri Sunil Raj and other concerned officers. At Anantnag, he visited Home Guard Lines Anantnag where he took stock of the progress in the ongoing basic training of HG volunteers, who are undergoing 45 days basic training course. He also interacted and listened to their problems and assured them of full support from the organization. He impressed upon them to acquire basic and other rescue skills so that they can be handy to the needy in distress.

 

Later he visited Aru Pahalgam, where a batch of SDRF personnel is undergoing 15 days Avalanche Victim Rescue course (AVR), under the supervision of the instructors of Jawahar Mountaineering Institute Nunwan Pahalgam. Commandant General witnessed the progress in training and enquired from both trainers and trainees regarding the success of the training course. He was satisfied with the response. He further impressed upon them to acquire the necessary skills, so that they are able to do avalanche rescue and recovery in a professional way. It is in place to mention that SDRF team Kupwara did a commendable job in recovery and rescue of victims at Sadhna top where an avalanche had hit a vehicle. The Endeavour of the SDRF authorities shall continue to  be skill refinement and service to the distressed.
