JAMMU:  Succumbing to the pressure from Opposition members as well as members from the ruling PDP, the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Speaker Kavinder Gupta Saturday expunged his remarks on Rohingya Muslims. While commenting on the Jammu attack in the Assembly, the Speaker   blamed the presence of Rohingya Muslims. The opposition legislators staged a forceful protest against the remark compelling Speaker to adjourn the House for ten minutes.

The House also witnessed anti-Pakistan slogans from BJP members during the ruckus, while National Conference member and former Speaker Muhammad Akbar Lone raised Pakistan ‘Zindabad’ slogans. Soon as the session started after the adjournment, the members of the NC told Speaker to withdraw his remarks on Rohingya Muslims. Later the Speaker withdrew his statement.
