  • Jan expresses concern over grave situation in Kashmir 

POONCH: A National Conference delegation, led by Youth National Conference Provincial President Mr Ajaz Jan on Sunday visited the Mendhar residence of Army Jawan Aurangzeb, who was abducted and killed while returning for home from Srinagar to celebrate Eid, and expressed condolences to the bereaved family. Mr Jan also conveyed condolences of the National Conference leadership, especially Vice President Mr Omar Abdullah, to the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul. The delegation met the bereaved members of the family in Salini Village of Mendhar and expressed solidarity at this hour of grief. 

In a statement later, the Provincial Youth National Conference President asked the Centre to take effective steps for restoration of peace in the Kashmir Valley. “It appears the Centre is confused with regard to Kashmir as there is no policy to address to the prevailing worrisome situation”, Mr Jan said and underscored the need for taking multi-dimensional measures to restore peace in the Valley. Mr Jan said assassination of a senior journalist besides abduction and killing of any army jawan reflects the gravity of the situation, which he said needs to be resolved on immediate basis.
