KARNAH: Police on Monday in two separate operations arrested four persons for carrying drugs and arms in Karnah area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district. A police official said that a team from Police Station Karnah assisted by 124 Battalion BSF intercepted two Sumo vehicles at a naka near Sadpora Karnah. From one of the Sumo vehicles (JK 05A/4359) 12 kilograms of contraband substance was recovered and accordingly two persons on board Rafiq Ahmad son of Ghulam Hussain and Zakir Hussain son of Syed Alam both residents of Nawagabra Karnah were arrested.

 

“While carrying out search of another vehicle (JK09/8135) two persons were found travelling with AK-56 rifles. Besides, rifles, 2 magazines and AK 56 rounds were recovered from their possession. They were identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Malik son of Muzafar Malik and Shabir Gakhad son of Abdul Rashid both residents of Hajitarah Karnah.” All the four persons were arrested and case FIR number 45/ 2018 under section 8/21 NDPS Act, 7/25 Arms Act, 13 ULA was registered in Police Station Karnah against these four persons.
