RAJOURI: The District Administration Rajouri has intensified market checking across the district and destroyed 56 kg rotten vegetables and fruits, seized 10 kg of banned polythene and realised fine amounting to Rs 11300 from the defaulters.

The Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz, in view of the upcoming Eid festival, constituted Tehsil wise Special Squads comprising of officers from Revenue, Legal Metrology, Food Safety and Police Department and directed them to carry out market checking across all major market places and business establishments to check overcharging, black marketing and under weighing besides quality of eatables.

The squads instructed the shopkeepers, traders and sweet shop owners to strictly adhere to the food safety norms, displaying of rate lists at conspicuous places outside their shops and not to indulge in ill practices of black marketing and profiteering of essential items. Meanwhile, the district administration also deployed special teams to ensure proper weighing and to put a check in over charging of sacrificial animals.
