- Conducts tour of remote villages of Mangit area, claims joining by scores of Congress, PDP workers
BANIHAL: National Conference leader and District President, Ramban Haji Sajjad Shaheen expressed grave concern over erratic power and drinking water supply besides lack of basic amenities in far-off areas of the Banihal Assembly Constituency. During his extensive visit to remote villages in Mangit area, of Banihal Constituency Shaheen, while interacting with the people, decried the neglect of the local Congress MLA, saying due to misrepresentation the entire Banihal constituency has been completly ignored as the local MLA has proved a disaster for the majority of the people living in this backward constituency.
Shaheen visited several villages that include Sarachi, Gadora, Kudji, Armdaka, Halla villages in Mangit area and during interaction in these villages the people complained about scarcity of drinking water for several weeks besides unavailability of other basic facilities. He said the road network is also in a dilapidated condition that has impacted the mobility and added to the miseries of the people.
The District President urged the R&B Department for clearing the hurdles on Bawa -Mangit 4 Kms link road to Mangit and take up the construction work on immidiate basis as the road project has been put at the back burner for unknown reasons. He also demanded extention of road link from Hergam upto Mangit village so that major chunk of leftover population also gets road connectivity.
Shaheen also drew the attention of the state administration towards deficiencies in education and health sectors and sought electrification of Village Dangoh and speeding up construction work on PHC Mangit besides immediate filling up of vacant posts as also stocking of adequate quantity of medicines in the health institutions.
While addressing a well attended gathering in Mangit, Shaheen lashed out at the local MLA for not taking any major initiative in development front that could have provided relief to people especially living in remote areas. "While one visits any area of Banihal Constituency, one gets a clear picture of how Banihal Constituency has been ignored by the authorities and casual approach of the present MLA , he added.
He said that Banihal constituency has witnessed very little development on every feild for the last one decade which has resulted in Banihal Constituency lagging behind on development front. He said that the performance of the sitting Congress MLA is quite disappointing and this era will be remembered as the darkest era in the political history of Banihal constituency as people of this most backward constituency have a feeling of having been lead down and are fed up with the corrupt practices and nepotism that has evolved during the last ten years.
While welcoming large number of Congress and PDP workers especially Youth in the party fold, Shaheen said, "That the people have realized that National Conference is the only party that can address social, political and economic aspirations of not only constituency like Banihal but all the three regions of the state as has been observed during the tour of various areas of Banihal Constituency where large number of political workers have joined National Conference since last four years."
He said complaints about defunct utility services have also been received from Khari-Trigam-Mahoo, Pogal-Paristan, Sumar, Sarachi, Amkote-Thachi, Hijhal, Nowgam, Bajmasta, Chaka, Sarbagni, Bingara, Kumbla, Phagow, Maligam Chaknarwah and other areas. Provencial Vice chairman OBC cell Abdul Jabar Hajam,Tehsil president Gh Hassan Naik, Block Presidents Mohd Khalil Sohil, Riyaz Ahmed Mir, Mohd Ashraf Naik, office Secretary Abdul Gani Wani, Block vice presidents Mohd Anwar Naik, Mohd Sahfi, bock Secretary Farooq Ahmed Goth, Provencial youth vice president Tariq Ahmed Dar, youth bock president Shabir Ahmed Naik, Secretary Youth District Secretary Musharaf Ahmed Naik, Halqa President Mohd Ramzan Wani besides Abdul Latief , Mohd sharief and Nisar Ahmed Lone also addresed the gathering.
