SRINAGAR: Gunmen on Saturday abducted five civilians from a village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district while two among the three persons kidnapped earlier were released, one unidentified body also recovered. Reports reached to VMS that gunmen on Saturday abducted three civilians from Saidpora Payeen and two from Meemender villages in south Kashmir’s Shopian district while two among the three persons kidnapped earlier were released.

Three civilians abducted from from Saidpora Payeen identified as Shahid Ahmad Ganie, Farooq Ahmad - both residents of Saidpora Payeen and Huzaif Ahmad Kutay of Manzgam were abducted earlier today. Two civilians were abducted from Meemender village of Shopian district on this evening identified them as Hakib Javed Ganie of Meemander and Ishfaq Ahmad of Pudsoo.

Their abduction came even as two among the three civilians kidnapped from a bakery early today were released. While Shahid and Farooq were released today evening, there was no information on Huzaif, said an official, adding that a throat slit body of Huzaif was recovered from a village in Lundoora.

After 36 hours a civilian Nadeem Manzoor was shot dead by suspected militants in Pulwama. Meanwhile, police said militants today killed a civilian in District Shopian after he was kidnapped earlier in the day from Saidpora area of Shopian. in a statement to VMS, a police spokesman said that police retrieved the dead body of civilian from village Hermain in Shopian. He has been identified as Huzaif Ashraf aged 19 years son of Mohd Ashraf alias Raja Kandur of Manzgam Kulgam. Body of Huzaif was handed over to his family after completion of medico-legal formalities. A case under under relevant sections of law has been registered in the concerned Police Station and investigation has been initiated in the matter.
