SRINAGAR: Srinagar Police arrested a thief in Srinagar and recovered a stolen Maruti car and a bike from his possession. A written complaint was lodged by Irfan Ahmad Ganie son of Abdul Qayoom Ganie resident of Yari-Kalan Chadoora in Police Station Karan Nagar stating that one individual was trying to steal his Maruti 800 car at Karan Nagar.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 16/2019 under relevant sections of law was registered and investigation was initiated. During investigation, one suspect person namely Abdul Hamid Mir son of Abdul Rahim Mir resident of Rawal Pora Budgam was apprehended and from his possession, one Maruti car, one bike, two master keys and a wooden scale was recovered. Further investigation is going on. More arrests/recoveries are expected. General public have applauded the prompt and swift action of police.
Drug Peddler arrested in Sopore: One person was arrested during a checkpoint at Krankshivan Sopore following an action against those involved in drug peddling in North Kashmir. One person identified as Aamir Akbar Mir son of Mohammad Akbar Mir resident of Mumkak Sopore arrested for the drug offences has been taken to Police Station Tarzoo where he remains in custody.
Officers at the checkpoint have seized 50 bottles of Maxcoff, Codeine P Coff-T and Codeine Apdyl-T from his possession. Case FIR No 18/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Tarzoo.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep your society free from the scourge of drug menace.
Police-public meetings held in Bandipora: In a series of initiatives taken by District Police Bandipora in order to make policing more people friendly and welfare oriented, PCPG (Police Community Partnership Group) meetings were held at Police Station Hajin, PP Sumlar and Naidkhai.
The meetings were attended by the respectable citizens of Panar, Pazalpora and Arin besides people from different walks of life, civil society members, village heads, Panchs and Sarpanchs also participated in the meetings. The meetings were chaired by the respective heads of the police units.
Various issues were raised by the participants. Officers assured them that their genuine grievances will be resolved on priority. The meetings concluded with a vote of thanks.
Police distributes books among specially-abled children in Bandipora : Continuing its public outreach programmes, Bandipora Police distributed books among the specially-abled children at Universal Educational Trust Bandipora. Under the Civic Action Programme (CAP), SSP Bandipora Shri Rahul Malik –IPS accompanied by DySP DAR distributed books among the specially-abled children of the Universal Educational Trust Bandipora.
The organizing committee of the institute and the people of the area appreciated the goodwill gesture of Bandipora Police in helping the poor and needy children. It is pertinent to mention here that Bandipora Police has initiated public outreach programmes in order to strengthen the police-public relations.
