SHOPIAN: Dr. Shubhra Sharma, Mission Director (MD) Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM) today conducted a tour of District Shopian to review ongoing initiatives and interact with the local Cadre and Self Help Groups (SHGs). The interaction was held at the District Mission Management Unit (DMMU) in Shopian, where she engaged with the SHGs, discussing their progress, challenges and future plans.
During her visit, the Mission Director inspected several livelihood activities initiated by the SHGs in District Shopian. These included the JKRLM-NABARD Rural Mart, an Apple Grading Unit, a Tailoring Unit and a Wool Shop, all established under the initiatives of JKRLM Shopian. These units are contributing to income generation and skill development in the district, supporting local communities to achieve economic self-sufficiency.
A key highlight of the tour was the inauguration of a newly established Computer Lab at DMMU Shopian. This facility will serve as a significant resource for SHG members, offering digital literacy and training opportunities to enhance their skills, particularly in areas like financial management, online marketing and e-commerce.
The Mission Director was accompanied by State Mission Managers and District Managers from Shopian during the tour. The visit underscores the Mission's commitment to fostering self-reliant rural communities and supporting SHG-led livelihood projects across Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory. The Mission Director’s interaction with the SHG members and her encouragement for digital empowerment and local enterprise development marks a positive step toward realizing the vision of self-sustainable rural economies.
