JAMMU: All J&K Mahasha Sadar Sabha (MSS) today organized an impressive function on the eve of 446th Parkash Divas of Guru Nabha Dass Ji Maharaj at its Head Office Dogra Hall Jammu where in Hon’ble JMC Mayor Sh. Chander Mohan Gupta was the chief guest and BJP State incharge IT & Social Media Sh. Jaidev Rajwal, Ex- MLA Sh. Ashwani Kumar and Ex-MLA Sh. S N Manyal were guests of honour. Thousands of people belong to Mahasha Community and other SC categories from Jammu, Samba, R S Pura, Kathua, Reasi, Udhampur, Rajouri and other districts of the State participated on the occasion to seek blessings of Guru Ji.

On the very outset, the function was commenced with lighting of lamp by chief guest, guests of honour and prominent members of the Sabha and respected members of the GNDT. President of All J&K MSS Dr. M L Rao in his welcome address thanked everybody for their participation on the auspicious occasion and also thanked to Bhajan Mandali who threw light on the life and contribution of Guru Nabha Dass Ji Maharaj in singing form. Dr. Rao submitted a memorandum to Sh. Chander Mohan Gupta and Sh. Jaidev Rajwal, Ashwani Kumar and S N Manyal listing the demands include one Lok Sabha seat for SCs out of 6 in J&K, representation in Legislative Assembly/Legislative Council for 2 seats to Mahasha Community and one nomination as MLC in J&K, construction of boys hostel over the existing Nabha Dass Community Hall, Declaration of holiday on the eve of birth anniversary of Guru Ji under Negotiation of Instrument Act and removal of slaughter house located in front of Shiv Mandir.

Mayor assured all Mahasha Community to release maximum funds from JMC and even from Governor for completing the left over proposed boys’ hostel on the existing Nabha Dass community hall with the estimate of Rs 1.30 crore already prepared by executive engineer of JMC. Sh. Gupta also assured the community to install the statue of Nabha Dass Ji Maharaj in the square to be selected by the Sabha.

Sh. Jaidev Rajwal while extending his gratitude to all the Mahasha Community members also highlighted remarkable achievements/schemes launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. While counting them, he said that due to best and possible efforts of BJP State Leadership, Central Government has opened its Pandora box for SCs under which a long pending demand of reservation in promotion that is one of the big gifts to SC Community was fulfilled.

He further said that 3% reservation to IB dwellers and 3% reservation to Pahari speaking people that include SCs another much needed succor. Mr. Rajwal further stated that Rs 3.5 lakh for treatment of Kidneys and Heart, elevation of income ceiling up to 2.5 lakh for guardians to gain scholarship for their wards, 103rd amendment in Prevention of Atrocities Act on SCs, 125th birth anniversary celebration of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar throughout the year, 80% SC beneficiary in Ujwala Yojana under which 7 crore gas connection were given and many more have been executed under the dynamic and visionary leadership of PM Sh. Narendra Modi.

Sh. Rajwal has played a key role for the welfare of the community recently with his best efforts; he managed to get the funds to the tune of Rs 22 lakh, Rs 15 lakh from MP Sh. Jugal Kishore Sharma and MLC Sh. Ashok Khajuria respectively. Sh. Ashwani Kumar and Sh. S N Manyal also shared thoughts on the occasion and urged people to follow the footsteps of Guru Ji.

In the occasion, mementoes on the behalf of community were presented to chief guests, guests of honour and other prominent dignitaries. All J&K MSS Vice President Sh. Vijay Mangotra presented vote of thanks and thanked people for their active participation in the said event to make it a big success. The event was concluded by serving eatables in the form of  Bhandara.

JAMMU: Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu Rishpal Singh today finalized the arrangements for Navratri Festival here at a joint meeting of officers of line departments and representatives of religious organizations.The meeting chaired by ADC finalized the arrangements for security and cleanliness around major Temples, traffic management, decoration of religious places etc.

The meeting also stressed on provision for uninterrupted power supply, safe drinking water, adequate stocks of ration and fire wood, check on the rates and quality of food items in the markets. Singh asked the Police authorities to make adequate deployment for security at temples, langer points and during the Shoba yatras. He directed the Traffic authorities to ensure proper management of traffic. Health Department was directed to keep adequate provision for Medicare facilities and medical staff.

SRINAGAR: Friday prayers were not allowed in the historic Jamia Masjid in downtown Srinagar, where restrictions had been imposed since Friday morning as a precautionary measure. Officials said that restrictions were imposed in downtown Srinagar following a call for protest by Joint Resistance Leadership against the custodial killing of school teacher Rizwan Asadh Pandit.

All gates of historic Jamia Masjid in the downtown remained closed and people were not allowed to move towards the historic mosque. Chairman Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, who was scheduled to address Friday congregation was also been put under house arrest.

The historic Jamia Masjid frequently remains closed due to prevailing situation. A large number of government forces and state police personnel remained deployed outside the Masjid and adjoining areas to stop any movement on the roads. “There was also no ‘Azaan’ (call for prayers) in the historic Masjid today,” local residents told news agency CNS, alleging that nobody was allowed to enter the area.
