  • Inspects various projects in Bijbehara constituency

ANANTNAG: Minister for Hajj, Auqaf & Horticulture Mr. Ab. Rehman Veeri today reviewed the pace of work for expansion and beautification of Ziyarat Sharif Khiram, developed under pilgrimage tourism. The project being executed at a cost of Rs. 3.22 crore including construction of Interoperation Centre, Door Entry, Development and expansion of   Lawn, Development of Channel, Landscaping and Fencing of the area. An expenditure of Rs.88 Lakh has been booked on the construction work till ending March 2014. The minister directed the tourism department to complete the door entry project within a month.

The Minister also inspected irrigation pump shed Khiram and directed Chief Engineer irrigation & Flood Control to speed up the work so that the aim of constructing the project is fulfilled. The irrigation pump shed having a capacity of 3 Cusec discharge capacity will facilitate the orchardists in irrigation work.

The Minister also visited inspection Hut at Nowshera constructed by irrigation department and directed Executive Engineer Irrigation Anantnag for immediate completion of finishing work of the Hut and Fencing of the area. Later the minister visited Higher Secondary School Sirigufwara and JKHPMCC project at Cheni Waddur and asked Director Tourism to develop the 20 kanal land area. The project being situated on Zirpara Pahalgam road would attract the visitors who use the road during the whole year. He directed for making attractive Hoarding from Pahalgam and from Zirpra.

The Minister was accompanied by Director Tourism Mr. Farooq Ahmad Shah, DDC Anantnag, Mr. Bashir Ahmad Khan, Director Horticulture, Mr. Pawan Kumar, Chief Engineer Irrigation & Flood Control Mr. Javaid Jaffar, and officers from Horticulture, Tourism, Irrigation Flood Control and PHE.

GANDERBAL: For the smooth conduct of Amaranth Yatra via Baltal, Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal, Showkat Ajaz reviewed the arrangements for the same.  Chairing a meeting of officers, the Deputy Commissioner stressed upon them to put up all efforts for smooth conduct of Yatra commencing from July 2, 2015.  Threadbare discussions were held for making arrangements in connection with the adequate supply of essentials, transport facilities, drinking water, power supply, medicare facilities, availability of firewood, sanitation, besides macadamization of roads and snow clearance upto the cave via Baltal.

 

Besides, threadbare discussions were held pertaining to establishment of medical camps, sanitation and availability of essentials, traffic management plan and drinking water facilities during Urs-i-Baba Nagri, Wangat. The Deputy Commissioner impressed upon the officers to make suitable arrangements of sanitation and cleanliness during Urs-i-Baba Nagri, Wangat to facilitate the devotees.  Among others, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, besides officers of district administration and police attended the meeting.

REASI: Arrangements for the 3-day historic Baba Aghar Jitto Mela commencing from June 01 were finalized in a meeting of officers held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Reasi-Sushma Chauhan here at Aghar Jitto. Ahead of festival, a special cleanliness drive (Shram-dhan) was also launched, which witnessed a huge gathering and an impressive participation by the locals and District Officers led by Deputy Commissioner herself.

Chauhan talking to media said that the Aghar Jitto Mela is a major tourist attraction and devotees from all across the country pay obeisance, to the birth place of the famous Dogra Hero Baba Jitto. She said, the purpose of launching the special cleanliness drive under the aegis of Shram Daan, was to sensitive the local population for their participation in keeping this holy place clean and garbage free. Further, Chauhan emphasized that, “Cleanliness of this auspicious place is a collective responsibility of all stake holders, particularity the locals and tourists coming from outside, to play their part in maintaining the overall sanctity of the area, and today’s exercise was to reinforce this message, and to encourage the youth all the district officers were seen cleaning the area themselves, very

This twin exercise of finalizing  the Mela preparation and conducting Shram Daan along side , made remarkable visible difference, and the locals, particularity youth, seemed quite motivated to carry forward the cleanliness exercise initiated by the District Administration.  Chauhan said that in this mela Lakhs of devotees come from different parts of the country  irrespective of cast, religion and pay their respect to Baba Jitto. The main attraction of the mela is special theatrical performance by local artist depicting the life and sacrifice of “Baba Jitto” by Jammu based theater group Natrang, said Chauhan.

She added that devotees wait all year to attend this mela and have become one of the major tourist attractions of the place after Mata Vaishno Devi shrine and Shiv Khori Shrine, adding that District administration has taken special measures in making this Mela a big success. A chain of events like special Puja at the bank of  river Chenab, Arti, Bhajan kirtan, Shobha Yatra, local folk songs, sports like Dangal are organized by local administration to attract tourist.

Chauhan instructed all the concerned officers to confirm necessary arrangements well before the commencement of the Mela. Chauhan directed all the departments to make arrangements for their stalls and showcase department achievements and attractions. She added that District administration has put a great deal of effort in making this mela a big success and for all others mela ‘s to be as a benchmark standard.
