JAMMU: Old Hospital Road Traders Association today organised a Langar in the old city bazaar, here. Senior BJP Leader Yudhvir Sethi attended the event and initiated the Langar. Dhamdeh is a local Dogra festival which is celebrated on the occasion on Ashadh Sankranti in the region. Chabeel and Langars are organised on the day.

Prominent among those who attended the langar include, General Secretary, Old Hospital Road Traders Association Joginder Mahajan, Convenor, BJP Freedom Fighter and Martyr Cell Bharat Bhushan, S. Avtar Singh, Shiv Gupta, Kishore, Achint, Mango, Ashok Kumar and Aakash Sethi.

Appreciating efforts of the Association for organising the Langar, Yudhvir said the festival is famous among the Dogra people and organising such events brings bonhomie among the society. He said local festival have special importance as they depict the rich culture of the region. He called upon people to mutually participate in celebrating festivals and rituals so that roots of harmony and brotherhood are further strengthened in the society.

JAMMU: Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today released an album of devotional songs ‘Jyot Jagdi Darbaar” in a function organized by the New Chandi Mata Mandir at BariBrahmna . MLA Samba Dr. Davinder Maniyal, local Sarpanch, prominent citizens and large number of devotees were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Singh congratulated the management of the temple and the singer Lucky Verma for release of the album. Locals of the area also met Dy. CM and apprised   him of various problems viz improvement of roads, regular supply of water, uninterrupted power supply besides various other demands and grievances were put forth by the people.

Dy. CM patiently heard the grievances of the people and assured them that all their genuine issues would be considered and addressed in a phased manner. He also said that it is the endeavour of the Government to provide all basic facilities to the people on priority, adding that a well conceived programme has been devised to address all issues in a phased manner.

He further said that government is committed for socio-economic upliftment of the people especially those living in hilly, remote and far-flung areas. He emphasized on regular monitoring of the development works by the people in their respective areas for effectives implementation of various schemes and programmes adding that it will ensure quality works on ground. He also said that government will leave no stone unturned to redress the genuine grievances of the people.

GANDERBAL/Baba Nagri: Despite incessant up and down weather in Kashmir Valley thousands of devotees thronged the shrine of Baba Nizam-ud-Din (RA) here in Baba-Nagri at Ganderbal district to celebrate the 123th annual Urs. The annual Urs celebration, which commenced on 8th of June, from early morning, the devotees from different parts of the state and outside visited the shrine where special prayers were held during the day and last night as well' the Urs were held under the supervision of Mian Bashir Ahmed and Milan Altaf Ahmad where thousands of devotees from Kathua, Doda, Poonch, Rajouri,Shopian, Baramulla and other districts of the State and from various parts of the country participated in the annual Urs" the three-day annual Urs of Hazrat Mian Nizam ud din (RA) concluded here on Monday with ‘Dua Majlis’ (special prayers) in the morning.

"Our family have been coming to Baba Nagri since my childhood. I get a lot of spiritual satisfaction after visiting the shrine". It is my sixth visit here as i have faith in this shrine" we also believe that Islam spread because of the efforts of Baba Nizam sahab," Mohammad Rafiq from Baramulla when contact on JK MONITOR". Throughout the last night, special prayers were held at the Ziarat. Mian Bashir Ahmed on this occasion threw light on the teachings of Islam and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in letter and spirit.  Various speakers threw light on the life of Baba Nizamudin and the Urs which has been going on for decades together. Besides Mian Altaf Ahmad, various renowned religious leader and scholars participated in the congregation. Mian Altaf was personally supervising the lodging, boarding and other facilities put in place for the devotees during Urs days.
