JAMMU: The NSS unit of Central University of Jammu along with Student For Development (SFD) volunteers organized a successful cleanliness drive at the pond premises outside the university campus as a part of the Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 (SHS-2024), Swabhav Swachhata, Sanskaar Swachhata campaign.
The initiative aimed to promote environmental awareness and community involvement. Honâble Vice Chancellor Central university of Jammu Prof. Sanjeev Jain, lauded the efforts of the volunteers. In his address, he emphasized the importance of keeping public spaces clean and sustainable, highlighting the role of students in leading such initiatives.
Prof. Jain appreciated the dedication of the NSS team and encouraged the university community to continue participating in such activities that contribute to the well-being of society and the environment.
Under the leadership of event coordinator Dr. Sujata Kundan, along with team members Dr. Kiran Kumari and Dr. Vishal, along with more than 50 volunteers participated in the initiative, engaging in activities such as litter collection, waste segregation, and educational outreach to local residents about the importance of maintaining clean surroundings.
The NSS unit plans to continue similar initiatives, emphasizing the significance of cleanliness in preserving natural resources and promoting public health. Nodal officer Prof. Richa Kothari emphasized the importance of community engagement in such initiatives.
