SRINAGAR: Cracking a whip on illegal mining & transportation of minerals, Police seized 02 mechanized motor boats in Awantipora. A police party of Police Station Awantipora seized two Mechanized motor boats being used by below mentioned person for illicit extraction of sand from river Jhelum. They have been identified as Ashiq Ahmad Sofi son of Fayaz Ahmad Sofi, Ghulam Mohidin Wani son of Ghulam Qadir Wani, Umer Mohidin Wani son of Ghulam Mohidin Wani, Towseef Ahmad Shah son of Ab Rasheed Shah, Gulzar Ahmad Dar son of Mohd Ramzan Dar, Bakhtiyar Ahmad Khan so of Ab Qayoom Khan and Sameer Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat all residents of Larkipora Awantipora.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 165/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated. Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned Police units.
