SRINAGAR: Project Beason as part of the nationwide "Swachchata Hi Sewa" campaignalongwith its allied units conducted an extensive cleanliness drive across various locations in the Kashmir Valley. The initiative, aimed at promoting cleanliness and raising awareness among tourists and local communities.
The following key activities were part of the campaign:-
Mass Cleanliness Drive. Cleanliness activities were conducted at all the detachments and Road Construction Companies (RCC) locations in Gurez Valley, Kupwara, Sonmarg, Gulmarg, Pahalgam and various other location. These Road Construction Companies in addition to own locations organised mass cleanliness drive at Zojila Pass, Rajdan Pass and Sadhna Pass.
Roadside Cleanliness Initiative. All RCCs contributed to a large-scale drive along the roads and National Highways in the respective jurisdictions. Personnel worked diligently to clean up and maintain the cleanliness of roads that are frequented by both locals and tourists, ensuring cleaner routes and spread of awareness amongst the populace.
Tourist Awareness. In an effort to instill a sense of responsibility among visitors, pamphlets promoting cleanliness were distributed to tourists across key locations in the Kashmir Valley. The initiative sought to encourage tourists to maintain the beauty of these locations by keeping the environment clean and disposing of waste properly.
Swachchta Pledge & Awareness Campaign. Swachchta Pledge was instituted in the Border Road Organisation (BRO) run schools, Offices & Worksites. Project Beacon also organised awareness runs & painting competitions in the schools.
Felicitation of SafaiKarmis. A special ceremony was held to honour the SafaiKarmis (sanitation workers) who play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness of the region. Their relentless efforts and dedication to keeping the environment clean were recognized with awards and commendations.
The Swachchata Hi Sewa campaign by the Project Beacon and its allied units highlights the importance of collective efforts in keeping the environment clean and promoting sustainable tourism in the Kashmir Valley. This initiative not only fosters a cleaner and healthier environment but also strengthens community participation in safeguarding the natural beauty of the region.
