  • Sports a Prime Tool to Keep Youths Away from Social Evils: Dr Vinod Kumar
KARGIL: Organizing tournaments keeps youths away from social evils and drug abuses. This was stated by SSP Kargil Dr Vinod Kumar, during the finales of Wakha Archery Tournament 2019. Rangyoul Shakar lifted the Wakha Archery Cup 2019 by defeating United Shakar Chiktan by 2 points.Shabir of United Shakar Chiktan was adjujged as Man of the Match, Mustafa Ali of Rangyoul Shakar Man of the Series, and Mehfoz Ali and Shabir Bull Stikers.
 
8 teams from all villages of Shakar Chiktan, Sub Division participated in the tournament cum education awareness programme organised by Youth Education & Sports Welfare Society Wakha and Nehru Yuva Kendra Kargil.
Dr Vinod Kumar, assured the organization for all possible help from Police Department in future. Gulzar Hussain Transmission Executive All India Radio Kargil, was the guest of honour, Speaking on this occasion told that in the early nineties Wakha was Educational Hub for whole Shakar Chiktan Sub Division, as students from all these areas come to Wakha to study in High School but still the High School has not been upgraded which is an irony for the education sector of the area.
Various speakers and intellectuals also spoke about the importance of Education and role of sports in promoting education in a society. He urged upon the villagers to focus on Education and equipping the existing schools with high quality teachers for quality education and a better educational prosperity of the area. On this occasion Mohammad Abass Skith, Tsewang Rigzin from NYK, Incharge Police Post Wakha Rigzin and sarpanches and prominent citizens of Shargole |Block and spectors were also present. Later the Cheif Guest and Guests distributed prizes among the winners and Runner Up Teams.

JAMMU: Shri Danesh Rana-IPS IGP Armed/ IR Jammu today flagged off two Jammu & Kashmir Police personnel for Mt. Everest Expedition-2019 being held under the aegis of MHA Government of India. Sgct Nazir Ahmad No.ARP015470 of JKAP-14th Bn. and Const. Falail Singh ARP036774 of IRP-1st Bn. of J&K Police Mountaineering Team who performed outstandingly during the trial held by Sonam Gyalso Mountaineering Institute Sikkim and were selected for participation in Indian Police Mt. Everest Expedition-2019 from South Col. side have been flagged off for the said expedition.

Shri Dilbag Singh-IPS DGP J&K and Shri S.J.M Gillani-IPS ADGP Armed J&K congratulated Sgct Nazir Ahmad and Const. Falail Singh (JKP Mountaineers) for their selection for participation in the Mt. Everest Expedition-2019 and wished them “best of luck” for scaling the world’s highest peak Mt. Everest successfully.

Senior Officers present during the flag off ceremony include Shri Mehmood Ahmad SSP Staff Officer to ADGP Armed J&K, Shri Dushyant Sharma SSP Staff Officer (Sports) APHQ J&K, Shri Kuldeep Handoo Inspector, Shri Sajad Ahmad Inspector and Shri Ram Singh Sub-Inspector Incharge J&K Police Mountaineering Rescue Team (MRT).Shri Ram Singh of Jammu & Kashmir Police was the first from Jammu & Kashmir Police as well as State of Jammu & Kashmir who successfully scaled the world’s highest peak “Mt. Everest” on 22nd May, 2008 during the Indian Police Mount Everest South Col. expedition held under the aegis of Ministry of Home Affairs Government of India.

The success of Ram Singh led to establishment of a full-fledged Mountaineering Team of J&K Police in the year 2009. JKP Mountaineers headed by SI Ram Singh have so far scaled 25 peaks at International/ National level. This team has imparted mountain rescue training to more than 1000 JKP personnel including CRPF and SDRF officials in the State and has also the distinction of having rescued more than 3000 pilgrims from 2009 to 2018 during Shri Amarnathji Annual Yatra.
