SRINAGAR: J&K Armed Police 9th battalion felicitated International Wushu player in Junior category, Shri Naveed Farooq at  an impressive function held at APC Zewan here today. The function was attended by police officers, coaches, members of Wushu Association, sports person and civil society member. Naveed Farooq, a student of  class 11th of Police Public School Srinagar,  represented the country in 7th Junior world Wushu  Championship held in Brazil and played up to quarter final level. He underwent more than two years of disciplined and rigorous training in J&K and Delhi. Besides he participated in a camp in The People’s Republic of China.

Speaking on the occasion, Commandant Shri Shailender Singh congratulated Naveed Farooq for his great achievement at International level and appreciated the support provided by his parents. He advised him to work hard, practise regularly and take balanced diet after seeking expert advice, to display sportsmanship and positive temperament during the game. He said that a sports person has to follow the basic tenets of reaching the zenith of his career and have no substitutes.
