UDHAMPUR: With an aim to inculcate sportsman spirit amongst the rural students of Rajouri District, a Kho Kho Competition was held at Songri. The event provided impetus to the Army’s efforts to promote positive youth development through sports and also provide a competitive platform to showcase the hidden talent of the local populace. In all 19 youth from villages Sadda, Bandigala, Daggal-gala, Songri and Akhari participated in the competition. The games also aimed at identifying talent and promoting sportsmanship amongst the youth. Sarpanch of Sadda Village Mr Chain Singh and Mr Mohmmad Aslam, Sarpanch of Bandigala and Songri along with several villagers were present during the event. Kho Kho being popular sports among the locals received overwhelming support from the locals, who came in large numbers to witness the match. The Sarpanch of villages thanked the Army and assured continued support in youth development programmes.

SRINAGAR: Closing ceremony of Ganderbal Sports Festival which was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police under civic action programme, was held in Ganderbal. The sports festival was inaugurated by DIG CKR Shri Ghulam Hassan Bhat on 30th of October 2017 at Sainik School Manasbal. The closing ceremony was witnessed by the DIG CKR Shri Ghulam Hassan Bhat who was the chief guest on the occasion. Among others SSP Ganderbal Shri Fayaz Ahmad Lone, other Police officers and respectable persons of District Ganderbal were present on the occassion.

 

While speaking on the occasion, Shri Ghulam Hassan Bhat said that these spots festivals are organized to explore the talent of youth of the state. Jammu and Kashmir Police is trying to boost the morale of talented youths and to channelize the talent to the international level, he said. Two matches of Tug of War and Kabbadi were played on the closing ceremony. Tug of War was played between Navodian Tigers and Degree College Ganderbal while the Kabbadi match was played between Kabbadi Academy Ganderbal and Navodian Tigers. Games including volleyball, Football, Badminton, Martial Arts and Cricket were also played during the sports festival. Deputy Inspector General of Police Shri Ghulam Hassan Bhat distributed the trophies as well as cash rewards and certificates among the participants.

DRASS: Ice Hockey Tournament-2018 organized by District Police Kargil under Civic Action Programme was declared open today by SSP Kargil Sh.T Gyalpo at International Ice Hockey Rink Drass , World's Second Coldest inhabited place at a chilling temperature of -250 C.  The opening match was played between Adventure Drass and Chiktan Blue which was won by Adventure Drass by 01 goal. In the second match Goshan-A Drass defeated Chiktan Razi Khar by whooping score of 10 goals.  

The five days tournament will be participate by 11 different teams of Kargil which will be played from 9th to 12th whereas the final match will be played on 13th of January 2018. Sh.Ishtyaq Ahmed Kacho-JKPS Dy.SP Hqrs Kargil, Sh.Rigzin Sandup-JKPS Dy.SP DAR Kargil, Inspr. Lotus Rabgais SHO Drass, prominent Ice Hockey promoter Sh. Amin Polo, besides Ice Hockey lovers were also present on the occasion. The people of Kargil and Drass especially the sports lovers have appreciated Distrct Police Kargil headed by Sh. T. Gyalpo, SSP Kargil to promote this game in this chilling cold weather.
